National Book Week was celebrated from 14th to 20th November. The celebrations began on 14th with a double delight as this day also happens to be the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, which is popularly celebrated as Children’s Day.
Sri. C.G. Krupakar, PGT Chemistry who was the Incharge Principal on this day, lit the lamp of knowledge and inaugurated the function. Smt. Ch. Anuradha, Librarian, briefed about the various competitions to be conducted during the celebration of National Book Week and encouraged the students to take active part in them. A small Book-Exhibition was organized to showcase the new arrivals to the Vidyalaya library.
Students shared their opinion on the importance books and the need to cultivate the reading habits. The essence of their speeches was – Reader is a leader. Teachers implored the students to make best use of the books available in the library. Various competitions conducted during the Book Week included Elocution, Quiz, Readathon, Essay Writing, Book cover Designing etc. The winners of these competitions will be honoured on the Annual Day of the Vidyalaya. Students presented a colourful cultural show on the occasion.
