BEST POEM

[This poem was nominated by UN as the best poem of 2006, Written by an African Kid.]

When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in Sun, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
And when I die, I still black

And you white fellow
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you cold, you blue
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray
And you calling me colored??

An Amazing Explanation about Life

A professor stood before his Philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes." The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. "Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. "The golf balls are the important things - your God, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions "- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. "The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car". "The sand is everything else--the small stuff". "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls". "The same goes for life". "If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you". "Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness". Play with your children. "Take time to get medical checkups". "Take your partner out to dinner". "Play another 18". "There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal". "Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter". "Set your priorities". "The rest is just sand." One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. "It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a cup of coffee with a friend."

SMILE

Just think how special a smile is
It costs nothing but enriches
All those who receive it.
It gives inspiration to the discouraged
Cheer to the sad and
Warmth to the troubled
It creates a good will
And a feeling of friendship.
It takes a moment to smile, but
Its impact lasts forver.
So share some smiles.

The Butterfly

Butterfly butterfly up in the sky,
Where are you going flying so high?
Butterfly butterfly over the hills,
You have wings with colour of silk.
Butterfly butterfly when will you rest?
After this journey when the sun sets.
Butterfly butterfly on the tree
You will always be happy with me.

BEING TOO GOOD

Once upon a time, there was a village where people had never seen a camel. One day, a camel came to the village. It was a strange animal for them. The camel grazed around. The villagers were surprised to see this animal which didn’t harm anyone.

Everyone made guesses about that strange animal. Many of them said that it was an animal sent by the God. Another one said that it was some powerful animal.

But all of them agreed that it couldn’t harm anyone. Some of them tried to disturb him. Still he didn’t get angry. They noticed that the animal was cool and calm as he didn’t show any anger on being disturbed. The villagers began to load burden on him. There was no difference between an ass and a camel.

At last the camel stayed with them in their village and worked as a beast of burden.

Moral: Sometimes, being too good is also bad.

Sunday Homework

Home work spoils the spirit of every Sunday!
For most of us it is not a fun day!

My mother is after me to do the work
But my heart is after “Cartoon Network”

I want to watch TV at least for an hour
With home work it can happen never

What is Sunday without any game
I can’t play when my friends not came

I should finish my home work today
For, I’ve to submit it on the next day

Home work is a pain in the week end
O God! When will this come to an end?

CLOUDS

Clouds are sailing
When the sky is blue
Where they go
I have no clue
The sun is yellow
It is shining so bright
As if to say ‘hello’
What a pretty sight!
Nature is so lovely
I thank God for his creativity.

THE CODE OF STUDENT

Discipline and behaviour and etiquette deserve special attention. The student should be perfectly punctual to the class. As a matte of fact, punctuality is the corner stone of discipline. He should serve his teacher, not because of official compulsion but out of heartful sincerity and profound respect for the preceptor. He is expected to mingle with his teacher, understand his intention and adjust himself to the temperament of the teacher.
- ANUSHA. A. X – A

START … … … … … ACTION

Devotion and dedication
Concentration and conviction
Introspection and reflection
Discrimination and renunciation
These are physical and mental actions
To attain perfection and realization
Which result in peace and satisfaction.

THE FIRE IN US

[A memoir of a cadet]

Our joy knew no limits when we heard that we were among the 9 short-listed cadets of this Vidyalaya to take part in the Combined Annual Training Camp [CATC] from 6 to 15 June 2008 at Brahmanapalli, Kuderu, Ananthpur Dist. We packed our luggage much before the day of journey and started to daydream about the ensuing camp.
The pictures of men in uniform took a march in our minds as we boarded the train on 5th June 2008 at Mahaboob Nagar. We had to change 4 trains to reach the venue. Nevertheless, the journey was fantastic.

Reaching the venue, all the 532 cadets from different corners of the state were instructed to erect their own tents and clean the surroundings.

The activities of the camp started regularly at 5 AM and ended at 10 PM. The entire training was on the lines of NDA and IMA set up. Under the able guidance of Company Commandant Lieutenant. Colonel. Thakur, the camp turned out to be a memorable time of our lives.

Meticulous care was taken in planning the daily activities of the camp that included – three spells of drill and roll call, training in Taekwondo, training in loading and using of Self Loading Rifle [SLR]. The best part of the camp was the delicious food served at regular intervals. The theory classes threw light on life skills, personality development, patrolling, discipline, tips to live in the contemporary world etc. The highlights of the theory classes were a) A story of a soldier- the real life story of Major. Chiranjeevi Reddy narrated by himself, b) An interactive session on the topic “Who is great – mother, father or teacher?”

Apart from this schedule we were taken on trekking that included – a walk into the forest and rock climbing.

We are proud to share with you all the spirit that we exhibited in the competitions conducted during the camp. For proving his prowess in playing tabla, Mas. Srinivas of class X was selected to take part in the prestigious Republic Day parade on 26th January 2009 in New Delhi. Mas. D. Yeshwant Reddy of the same class was adjudged the “Rising Star” of the entire camp for his active participation in all the theory and practical classes. He also won cash prizes each in story telling and for perfecting the art of using Self Loading Rifle. Mas. Shiva Shankar got prize in Debate competition. All the cadets of this Vidyalaya were awarded special prizes in Taekwondo.

Through our dignified behaviour, all of us brought laurels to this Vidyalaya. We thank our Principal and Sri. V. Bhaskara Achary, Associate NCC Officer for their constant guidance and motivation. We are equally thankful to all the trainers at the camp for making our stay comfortable and cherishable.

MOTHER

I look back on these years
To see how far I’ve come and grown,
I take a trip down memory lane,
And what I see has shown….

That every step that I have taken
You have been there by my side….
From infancy to adulthood,
We’ve stood the test of time.

Your constant care and love
And your warm inviting heart
Has always been a treasure that
I knew would never depart.

If I could be “Just half” the person
You have been to me…
Then you have taught me well dear mother
For in my heart I see

A woman whose most gentle soul
Embraces me each day…
A woman whom I dearly love
Much more than words can say.
