With lot of pride and joy in our hearts, we would like to share with you all, our experience at 55th Athletics Meet of the School Games Federation of India [SGFI] held from 23 – 27th November at Amritsar, Punjab. We were ecstatic to be among 86 students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas that took part in the Meet. There was a stiff competition among the athletes grouped under 27 teams that came from the nooks and corners of the country.
Having secured First positions in our respective events - J. Narasimha [Class XII] - Discus Throw, and S. Ramesh [Class IX] 100 mtrs and Long Jump – at the Cluster, Regional and National levels, we pulled off an opportunity to participate in the biggest school game event of the country and secured eighth and seventh positions respectively. Nevertheless, we were least disappointed for, we had put our best performance and the meet had illustrated clearly the meaning of competition.
This feat wouldn’t have been a possibility without the guidance of our Physical Education Teachers Sri. G. Surendra Reddy and Smt. Manjula Radha. We are also grateful to our Principal, Sri. Laxmi Rajam garu for his constant support and encouragement.

National Book Week was celebrated from 14th to 20th November. The celebrations began on 14th with a double delight as this day also happens to be the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, which is popularly celebrated as Children’s Day.
Sri. C.G. Krupakar, PGT Chemistry who was the Incharge Principal on this day, lit the lamp of knowledge and inaugurated the function. Smt. Ch. Anuradha, Librarian, briefed about the various competitions to be conducted during the celebration of National Book Week and encouraged the students to take active part in them. A small Book-Exhibition was organized to showcase the new arrivals to the Vidyalaya library.
Students shared their opinion on the importance books and the need to cultivate the reading habits. The essence of their speeches was – Reader is a leader. Teachers implored the students to make best use of the books available in the library. Various competitions conducted during the Book Week included Elocution, Quiz, Readathon, Essay Writing, Book cover Designing etc. The winners of these competitions will be honoured on the Annual Day of the Vidyalaya. Students presented a colourful cultural show on the occasion.

If you go to heaven there is nothing to worry about, if you go to hell you will be busy shaking hands with your old friends and have no time to worry about worry.

November 11, the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is popularly celebrated throughout the country as the National Literacy Day. A small function was organized on the Vidyalaya campus to pay homage to Abul Kalam, the first Education Minister of Independent India. In their speeches the students threw light upon the life and achievements of Abul Kalam and the teachers enlightened about the importance of Literacy in man’s life, the place of India in the world literacy standings and the role of youth in making India an educational superpower. Abul Kalam, who was a renowned scholar, poet, freedom fighter, and a staunch Gandhian, always felt that the condition of the Indian society can not be uplifted without education. He was a strong propagator of Indian nationalism and Hindu-Muslim unity. He was a strong opponent of partition and supported a confederation of autonomous provinces with their own constitutions but common defence and economy. Partition hurt him greatly and shattered his dream of a unified nation where Hindus and Muslims can co-exist and prosper together. For his invaluable contribution to the nation, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was posthumously awarded India's highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna in 1992.
Let us tread the noble path shown by Abul Kalam and spread the message of literacy everywhere.
