RAKHI AND VINAYAK CHOWTHI CELEBRATIONS

JNVs across the country are hailed as the centres of cultural excellence since they celebrate all festivals with a festive zeal adding traditional extravagance that is rarely found in this modern materialistic world.
Rakshaa-Bandhan or Rakhi, the festival that marks the importance of brotherhood in man’s life was celebrated on 5th of August. Girls of the Vidyalaya tied Rakhis, the sacred threads around the wrists of boys, who in turn took oath to uphold the feeling of brotherhood. Sri. Sesham Suprasannacharyulu, TGT Telugu delivered a mesmerizing speech on the historical importance of the festival and the way this festival had been celebrated through the centuries. Girls of class IX presented a cultural show on the occasion.
Vinayaka Chowthi, the festival that motivated Indians to plunge into the freedom struggle and brought together people of every section, caste, religion to contribute his might to free India from the clutches of British was celebrated on 23rd of August with pomp and gaiety. The idol of Lord Vinayaka was worshipped and his blessings were sought by the students and teachers alike. Devotional songs and prayers were offered to the Lord of learning. After six days of reverent worship, the idol of Lord Vinayaka was immersed in Ramanna Lake at Vattem.
