TECHNOTHLON – 09

The participants of Technothlon – 09 from JNV Mahaboob Nagar namely Mas. M.K. Surya and Mas. B. Aravind Reddy proceeded to IIT Guwahati campus after staying for two days at JNV Vizianagaram. They were joined by other four students of Hyderabad Region. They reached IIT Guwahati in the evening of 3rd September. With the help of Mr. Nishanth Babu, the former student of JNV Mahaboob Nagar, they were provided very good accommodation there.
On the first day [4th Sept] of the Technothlon festival there was introduction ceremony at the Lectures Theatre and the participants were briefed about the schedule for the next two days. In the first event “Entropy” the participants were given some gear parts to prepare a machine and also with the help of some material to prepare a pulley system. The participants had to apply the technical aspects in this task.
They took part in “Bob-the builder” wherein the participants were given some materials such as ice cream sticks, plaster, cutter etc and asked to make a beautiful boat which should float in water. In this manner the first day was the day of enjoyment for them.
In the morning session of day two [5th Sept] the first event of the day (Proto-type) was taken up. All the participants who had brought exhibits from their respective Vidyalayas had to exhibit the same. In between the event the famous NASA Astronaut Mr. Edward Michael Mike interacted with all the participants and at the same time rapt attention when the participants explained the themes of their exhibits. The participants later attended Robotics class which lasted for three hours. In the last thirty minutes of the class the participants were given some parts and guided to prepare a robot. Participation Certificates were handed over in the evening which ended with a laser show which was excellent and mind-blowing.
On the last day [6th Sept] it was a final showdown programme which was held in a grand manner. There was a career-counseling class by Mr. Nishanth Babu. The last and most important programme of the day was interaction of NASA Astronaut on issues related to space and aeronautical engineering and success of Chandrayaan –I.
On the whole it was a very good opportunity for the participants from our Vidyalaya to have met so many people and shared different experiences in the three day festival of Technothlon-09.
