NEW YEAR – A TIME FOR RESOLUTIONS
The New Year is a time for resolutions. Mentally, at least most of us could compile formidable lists of do’s and don’ts. The same old favourites recur year in and year out with monotonous regularity. We resolve to get up earlier each morning, eat less, do a thousand and one jobs about the house, be nice to the people we don’t like, drive carefully and take the dog for a walk everyday. Past experience has taught us that certain accomplishments are beyond attainment.
Most of us fail in efforts at self-improvement because our schemes are too ambitious and we never have time to carry them out. We also make the fundamental error of announcing our resolutions to everybody, so that we look even more foolish when we slip back into our bad old ways.
Aware of these pitfalls, this year I attempted to keep my resolutions to myself. I limited myself to modest ambitions. My schemes should not be beyond the reach.
At the same time, I wish you all a very prosperous new year. Let all your dreams and wishes get fulfilled in this year. Keep on moving till your dreams are realized.

YOU TINY STAR
THE OWL AND THE PUSSY CAT
The owl and the pussy cat
Went to a sea
In a beautiful pea green boat
They took some honey
And plenty of money
The owl looked up the sky
And sang to a small guitar
O lovely pussy! O pussy my love!
What a beautiful pussy you are!
You are!
You are!
What a beautiful pussy you are!
The owl said you are an elegant one.

JNV SELECTION TEST POSTPONED
Jawahar Navodaya Vdiayalaya Selection Test [JNVST]- 2011 which was scheduled to be conducted on February 6 2011 has been postponed indefinitely for the reasons yet to be known. There had been questions over the conduct of the test for entry into the Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country and why these schools should go ahead with the said test when the Right To Education Act clearly says that no school in the country will screen students or parents for admission.
However, a newspaper report with a title “Navodaya Vidyalayas to be left out of ‘no screening’ rule”, published on December 14, 2010 said “Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas will be kept out of the contentious ‘no screening’ for school admission mechanism that the Right to Education (RTE) Act has brought into effect. With the Law Ministry, in its response to the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry’s queries on the issue, saying that Navodaya schools are “a class apart” and a class sui generis, the stage is set to keep the Navodaya schools out of the ambit of the critical RTE clause.”
Meanwhile, necessary arrangements were made in all JNVs during last few months for the conduct of the test. However, the JNVs were later on informed through an email that the said test would not be conducted as per the schedule and is postponed indefinitely. With that effect media was informed to publish the news for the information of the public.
